Discussion and Assignment Prompts 

Course Learning Outcomes: 

  • CLO 5: Implement activities that align with personal needs, such as watching your favorite show uninterrupted, reading a chapter of a book, or doing some self-care. 

  • CLO 6: Document their progress to see where adjustments are needed by doing a weekly journal to see what challenges and successes were experienced, to do better the following week. 

Module Learning Objectives: 

  • The student will identify activities they enjoy doing that align with their personal needs and implement them into their daily routine.  

  • The student will complete a daily journal to document their work-to-home transition, which they will use to monitor progress and adjust their daily routine as needed. 

Learning Materials and Activities:

  • Students will read an article on the importance of self-care, engage in two discussion posts, use the work-to-home transition journal that was introduced in Module 1 and complete one assignment where they must try out a self-care routine for a week and provide feedback regarding their personal experience.

Discussion 1: Why is self-care important?

 

Learning objective: The student will identify activities they enjoy doing that align with their personal needs and implement them into their daily routine. 

Read the attached article, Don't Let Your Calling Catch Up with You: The Importance of Self-Care. After reading the article, choose two tips that the author provided and explain how you would incorporate them into your daily routine.

You will respond via Padlet. Click the link to access the Padlet discussion board: Padlet DiscussionLinks to an external site.

Your response is due by Sunday at 11:59 ET. 

Please respond to two classmates and see if they chose the same tips as you or if they chose different ones, and see why. Your response must be a minimum of 250 words and is due Tuesday at 11:59 PM.

Discussion 2: What brings you joy?

 

Learning objective: The student will identify activities they enjoy doing that align with their personal needs and implement them into their daily routine. 

 

I want you to imagine that you have a fully uninterrupted extra hour in your day where you can do something that brings you joy. Think about the things that you enjoy doing.

 

Please share two things that you would do during a fully uninterrupted hour that is meant just for you. Share in 500 words why these two things bring you joy and how you can start implementing them into your daily routine. Your initial response is due Sunday at 11:59 ET. 

 

You will respond to two classmates with a minimum of 250 words. Your response to your classmates is due Tuesday by 11:59 ET. 

Assignment: Creating your own self-care routine 

Learning objectives:

  • The student will identify activities they enjoy doing that align with their personal needs and implement them into their daily routine. 

  • The student will complete a daily journal to document their work-to-home transition, which they will use to monitor progress and adjust their daily routine as needed. 

 

Students will utilize the Work-to-Home Transition Journal to document their daily routine for a week, see where they can implement self-care that aligns with their personal needs into their daily routine. They will be encouraged to be creative with their response. 

Assignment Instructions: 

You were introduced to the Work-to-Home Transition Journal in Module 1, Work-to-home transition journal.pdf Download Work-to-home transition journal.pdf. Now you will get to use the journal to assist you in creating your self-care routine. You will document your daily routine in the journal for one week and then implement self-care activities where you see feasible. There is no right or wrong way to do this. You are meant to analyze your daily routine and find an activity or activities that you enjoy doing, and see where they can be scheduled into your daily routine. You will have one week to complete this assignment, and after the week, please provide me with a reflection regarding your personal experience with your self-care routine. You can create a video reflection, poem, collage, movie, or be as creative as possible.
